Svea Felinus...

…Is a Norwegian forest cat cattery in Malaga, Spain. We live in Benalmádena Costa close to the beach.

We are a family breeder or cattery. All our cats live with us and they can move with totally liberty all over the house. Now we have also closed off the terrace so that we can add approx. 20 m2 out in the fresh air for the cats to enjoy whenever they want.

Why do we breed Norwegian forest cats? We have always had cats in our parent’s homes. One day we saw a program on tv about big elegant cats with semi long fur, they where Norwegian forest cats. We made an extensive search on Internet and found a wide range of breeders and possibilities.

Finally we decided to bring a cat from Sweden, as we also have the facility to travel there a lot to visit family.

So what should we then call our breeding? We where choosing between a lot of names, some of them related to Malaga, Sweden, monuments, short and long names, and finally we made up our minds for SVEA FELINUS. Sverige (Sweden in Swedish) means the kingdom of Svea, who is the mother of Sweden. We thought it was a good start as our cats and me (Linda) comes from Sweden. “Felinus” Is influenced from the latin “Felis” which means cat and the Spanish felino that also stands for cat. We thought it would be a good complement to Svea to get an air of something cattish to the name.
